Auto battery and parts manufacturer Johnson Controls headed the newest rankings, followed by BNSF Railway and Union Pacific. Seven firms – American Electric Power, Brink’s, General Electric, Home Depot, Merrill Lynch, Sprint Nextel and USAA – have earned a spot on the list in all six years of its existence. The military produces nearly 400,000 new civilian workers each year. Aside from college campuses, which generate more than one million workers annually, the military is the country’s largest source of renewable, skilled talent.
“This isn’t about charity or patriotism. It’s about good business,” according to G.I. Jobs’ Rich McCormack. “The companies on our list understand that.”
