Army Spouse Partnership Adds Five New Firms
Winter 2008-09
The Army Spouse Employment Partnership (ASEP) strives to facilitate the employment of Army spouses by offering increased opportunities to achieve career goals and providing organizations ready access to a talented and diverse labor pool.
Five new corporate partners recently were added:
- Black & Veatch (global engineering, construction)
- Convergys (human resources, billing services)
- EMC (information and infrastructure technology)
- Lowe’s (home improvement retailer)
- West Corp. (customer service outsourcing)
Established partners included Adecco USA, Affiliated Computer Services, Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Army Career and Alumni Program, AT&T, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Computer Sciences Corp., Concentra, CVS Caremark, Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), Dell, Department of the Army Civilian Personnel Office, EURPAC Service, Home Depot, H&R Block, Humana Military Healthcare Services, Kelly Services, Lockheed Martin, Manpower Inc., RGIS, Sears Holdings, Social Security Administration, Starbucks, SunTrust Bank, TJX Companies, Toys “R” Us and USAA.
The partners represent a wide spectrum of career opportunities for spouses with different employment needs, educational qualifications and skill levels. Most maintain an international presence with locations in the communities that surround military installations where military spouses live and work, offering the possibility of job portability for spouses even while stationed overseas.
Some of the jobs are created specifically with the challenges confronted by many military spouses – such as limited availability of child care and transportation – in mind.
ASEP says its partner companies have hired more than 9,000 military spouses during 2008. To learn more, visit www.ArmyOneSource.com or contact Vivian Carrasco at vivian.carrasco@us.army.mil or 703-258-5963.
