Scholarship Program Opens For 2008
Winter 2007-08
The Scholarships for Military Children program has opened for 2008, and unmarried children under age 21 (23 if enrolled in school) of active-duty, Reserve, Guard and retired military personnel are encouraged to apply. They must submit an essay addressing this question: Every able-bodied citizen should be required to serve a two-year period in the military – why or why not?
Applicants must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university full-time in the fall term of 2008 or be enrolled in a program of study designed to transfer directly into a four-year program. Applications, available at commissaries worldwide or online at www.commissaries.com and www.militaryscholar.org, must be turned in to a commissary by close of business on Feb. 20, 2008.
Scholarships for Military Children has awarded more than $5.5 million to 3,532 of the best and brightest children of military families since the program began in 2001.
